Dear BDFC players, volunteers, members and supporters

I write to introduce myself as the incoming President of the Football Club. I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to lead the Football committee, particularly coming in at such an exciting time in the history of our Club. For those that don’t know me, I’ve been involved with the administration of football at the BDFC and in the Association for almost 25 years. I was awarded BDFC life membership in 2013 prior to joining the BLGFA as a Director and Vice President, serving for 9 years before resigning my position at the end of 2021 due to work commitments. I have been a police officer for 35 years but I’m currently on leave pending my formal retirement early next year so I now have the time to re-commit to the Club.

I thank the outgoing committee members, Jason Thiele (President), Corey Roberts (Treasurer), Elijah Grantham (Secretary) and Jamie Sibbick (Sponsorship) for doing an amazing job, and look forward to working with the incoming Committee members, and various working groups who strive to provide a successful and enjoyable experience for everyone involved at our Club.

We have so much to look forward to. The new facility at Lyndoch is unbelievable and, after waiting for so long, it’s happening so fast!. I am so happy to be riding the wave of excitement at the Club with the impending move. An enormous amount of credit needs to go to the BDFNC Management Committee and the Barossa Council who have worked, and continue to work tirelessly to set up a state-of-the-art facility and systems that maximises the benefit to our Club and the Community generally.

As you have probably noticed from the Facebook posts, the Football Operations Recruiting team have been working extremely hard for months now and we are so pleased to welcome back a number of great players to the Club, along with some outstanding talent joining us for the first time. We also welcome new A-Grade Coach, Ash (Red) Barnett back to the Club. We are also so happy to now have our BDFC Juniors (Under 9’s and 11’s) back to play at the Club after several years playing their games at Sandy Creek so we’ll all be together again. Our women’s program is also looking great with some quality players and coaches joining the squads. 2025 will see us fielding a Senior Women’s team (something we unfortunately couldn’t do in 2024), along with a team in each other grade. So we are getting set for a fantastic 2025 and so looking forward to our first game in the new facility on 10th May.
