MOUTH GUARDS ARE A COMPULSORY – NO MOUTH GUARD, NO TRAIN NOR PLAY
During the 2012 AFL season, a Gold Coast Suns player had his front teeth knocked out during a football game. He later required dental surgery to have the teeth re-inserted after they were found on the ground after the game. The player had a mouthguard with him, but it was in his sock, not in his mouth! He missed games as he recovers from surgery, and there was the chance his teeth would die and turn black due to the loss in blood supply to them for some time.

Proud of you Will, Tate, Isabel and Madi!!!! You represented the club so well!!The nation's elite sporting superstars might be set to make their debut at the newest AFL venue, Barossa Park, but it was four youngsters from Barossa District Football Club (BDFC) who took the honours when it opened yesterday.
While the AFL Gather Round moves in over the next few weeks, William Pitt, Tate Wilson, Isabel Pitt and Madi Wilson are excited to call the spectacular new facility home.
"I'm really hyped to get out there and play some footy on the oval," says Will, who has been playing with BDFC since Auskick under 9s. "The oval looks lovely, the view back there of all the hills...it's just amazing."
Curation of the AFL-standard oval also gets a tick of approval from Will, who typically plays half forward but is pretty handy and versatile enough to play across the ground.
"It feels lovely, the grass is just spectacular, there's no other way to describe it. It's top of the tops," says 14-year-old Will.
And he says the prospect of seeing AFL players compete on their home turf is "an honour".
"I find it really awesome that they're able to come down here and play for us at this oval that we've made for them - and that we will playing on there too after they've finished their games."
Will, Tate, Isabel and Madi cut the ribbon alongside South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas and Mayor Bim Lange, with the mayor describing the facility as a game-changer for the community and the regional economy.
